YSAS is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in reducing the harms associated with problematic substance use in the community.

The successful candidate will engage young people aged 12-21 in public settings, conduct comprehensive health assessments, and provide AOD information, brief interventions, and health promotion.

This role requires a willingness to participate in pro-active engagement with young people in the community to promote their access to health services, which may involve some after-hours work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and provide clinical interventions, brief interventions, or health-promoting programs within the scope of practice for young people.
  • Deliver harm minimisation-oriented treatment and prevention interventions in the alcohol and drug field.
  • Work closely with YSAS General Practitioners, community General Practitioners, and Day Program staff to provide integrated care.
  • Participate in pro-active engagement with young people in the community to promote their access to health services.
Requirements
  • Experience working as a registered nurse, including experience in conducting comprehensive health assessments.
  • Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions, brief interventions, or health-promoting programs within the scope of practice for young people.
  • Understanding of the principles and practice of harm minimisation-oriented treatment and prevention interventions in the alcohol and drug field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of adolescent development issues and common presenting health needs of young people.
