Census Engagement Role Overview

We are seeking a Remote Census Engagement Manager to play a key role in maximising participation in the 2026 Census.

Key responsibilities include creating engagement plans, updating stakeholder management systems with all engagement activities, undertaking promotional activities and providing support and assistance to operational teams undertaking activities in your area.

About the Position
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver Census engagement activities for your assigned region.
  • Maintain a record of your engagement activities via our Stakeholder Management System.
  • Develop, update and review engagement plans for your area of responsibility.
  • Promote participation in the Census through community visits, promotional activities and presentations.
  • Connect with the community, establish networks and maintain those relationships.

This position requires you to have an understanding of and ability to communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Applicants who live in or have worked in remote areas will be highly regarded.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge in working with or advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to connect and engage with a range of service providers, communicate effectively, and develop strong working relationships.
  • Communicating sensitively and effectively to present information to both small and large groups or communities.

The Assistant Engagement Manager will provide support to the Census Engagement Manager and undertake a combination of procedural, engagement and administrative duties.
