We are seeking a highly skilled Mechatronics and Controls Specialist to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council. As a key member of our Mechatronics Control Section, you will play a vital role in supporting the neutron and muon instruments and experimental equipment at our facility.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for motion control equipment, including testing, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Plan and execute maintenance activities, ensuring safe methods of work and accurate record-keeping.
- Collaborate with mechanical teams to design and install motion control equipment.
- Support the integration of user-provided equipment for experiments.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of motion control equipment.
- Represent the section at design reviews and conferences.
- Perform equipment repair and maintenance, including rewiring and reassembly.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff and graduates.
- Qualified HNC or above in a relevant engineering discipline or extensive experience in Mechatronics, Robotics, or Controls engineering.
- Demonstrable knowledge of mechatronic experience within an industrial or scientific setting.
- Ability to critically analyze systems and diagnose root cause failures.
