Laboratory Services Sample Receipt Officer, APS Level 4, National Measurement Institute

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Services Sample Receipt Officer to join our team at the National Measurement Institute. As a key member of our Laboratory Services team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the accurate processing and delivery of samples to laboratories, ensuring good service delivery outcomes and operational process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and supervise sample receipt and processing
- Assist in the day-to-day planning of workload and resources in samples receipt and ensure timely and accurate processing and delivery of samples to relevant laboratory areas
- Supervise and co-ordinate the timely and accurate outsourcing of work
- Supervise and co-ordinate freight movements, especially ensuring adequate provision of consumables for couriers and major clients
- Assist in the accurate and timely registration of work submissions to Sample Manager LIMS
- Contribute new ideas and identify opportunities to improve efficiency of Laboratory Services processes
- Contribute to the training and guidance of new and junior staff in relation to Laboratory Services functions, monitoring their progress and ensuring training documentation is completed
- Representing Laboratory Services at internal and external meetings and conferences
- Tertiary qualifications in a scientific field or a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Good working knowledge and experience of a LIMS system, Sample Manager for Windows is highly desirable
- Ability to successfully work under general supervision, demonstrating a high level of self-organisation and sound judgement in prioritising routine work and service matters
- A high level of attention to detail and the ability to identify and mitigate risks that will impact on own and teamwork outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent client and interpersonal communication skills (orally and written) in a professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to consistently exhibit the NMI values of being adaptable, accountable, innovative, inclusive, influential and strategic
- A solid knowledge of the principles of Good Laboratory Practice and Laboratory Work Health & Safety are essential to this role
