About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as the Head of Workplace Safety and Environment. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for shaping and driving our WSE culture across our operations in Australia and New Zealand.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading WSE functions, with the ability to drive a positive WSE culture and champion WSE initiatives. You will be responsible for leading a team of safety professionals, partnering with senior leaders to mentor, guide, and ensure compliance with our WSE standards and work, health and safety legislation in Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and oversee all WSE systems of work and frameworks in Australia and New Zealand
  2. Lead a team of safety professionals located in Sydney and Melbourne
  3. Lead the ongoing management of WSE ISO assurance activities
  4. Be the highest point of escalation for site and incident investigations and safety audits
  5. Develop and implement a multi-year wellbeing and safety strategy for home, office, and operational safety-sensitive environments, ensuring legislative compliance and mitigation of risks
  6. Collaborate with senior business leaders to drive a positive WSE culture where high safety standards are practiced and maintained, and a culture of reporting allowing for continuous improvement
  7. Stay abreast of WSE legislation, ensuring that our operations meet all regulatory requirements across Australia and New Zealand
  8. In partnership with Risk, ensure effective emergency response management systems are in place and are aligned with business continuity plans
  9. Oversee corporate facilities function
  10. Working closely with the WSE team and site management, lead initiatives to analyse trends, and identify, assess, and mitigate WSE risks, ensuring effective controls are in place
  11. Oversee return-to-work programs, providing leadership and strategic advice on case management to minimize lost-time injuries
  12. Generate and present insightful WSE performance reports to Executives and the Board
  13. Manage and participate in internal or external WSE audits as required
