Position Overview:

In response to the increasing demand within our transportation division, we are seeking a Technical Director/Design Manager with extensive experience in the highways sector to lead multiple complex interdisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibiting strong leadership by providing clear direction and technical guidance, while fostering a culture of quality;
  • Effectively applying project delivery best practices in areas such as risk and change management, planning, project initiation, and common data environments (including BIM and document control);
  • Ensuring robust financial and project management controls are established and utilized for monitoring, adjustments, and forecasting as necessary;
  • Striving for optimal client satisfaction by championing client care and engaging proactively with clients;
  • Enhancing project performance, service delivery, and achieving technical and commercial objectives through regular reviews, ensuring client expectations are exceeded;
  • Identifying and pursuing design opportunities, as well as preparing bids and tender submissions.

Qualifications & Experience:

Above all, you share our commitment to enhancing quality of life. You are an experienced design management professional with a solid background in the transportation infrastructure sector, possessing:

  • A relevant engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Confidence in leading multidisciplinary design teams for rail and/or road projects within a design and engineering consultancy framework;
  • Proven experience in delivering complex highway infrastructure initiatives;
  • Strong technical and commercial acumen, with a comprehensive understanding of the industry and a track record of securing opportunities;
  • Exceptional communication skills, coupled with extensive stakeholder management experience, enabling you to build credible, collaborative, and influential relationships both internally and externally.
