Therapy Team Leader Job Description

The Therapy Team Leader will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at our specialist school.

  • Lead and manage the therapy team, comprising speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists.
  • Develop and implement individualised therapy programs to support student learning and development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure consistency and alignment of therapy programs with classroom activities.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in working with students with ASD.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to student wellbeing and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality therapy services to students with ASD.
  2. Program Development: Develop and implement individualised therapy programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  3. Staff Collaboration: Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure seamless integration of therapy programs with classroom activities.
  4. Professional Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  5. Policy Development: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote student wellbeing and support.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Educational Psychology.
  • Proven experience in leading a therapy team and developing individualised programs for students with ASD.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
