Autism Support Specialist

The Therapy Team Leader will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at our specialist school.
- Lead and manage the therapy team, comprising speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists.
- Develop and implement individualised therapy programs to support student learning and development.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure consistency and alignment of therapy programs with classroom activities.
- Provide professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in working with students with ASD.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to student wellbeing and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality therapy services to students with ASD.
- Program Development: Develop and implement individualised therapy programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Staff Collaboration: Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure seamless integration of therapy programs with classroom activities.
- Professional Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote student wellbeing and support.
Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification in Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Educational Psychology.
- Proven experience in leading a therapy team and developing individualised programs for students with ASD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
