Key Community and Placemaking Officer

  • This is a senior role within the Campbelltown City Council.

As a member of our team, you'll have a key role in leading, delivering and fostering 'Place' projects across the LGA. You will be comfortable and competent when engaging and working with the community, as well as your colleagues across the organisation.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant job-related experience in social and/or behavioural sciences, public policy, placemaking, urban space development or similar areas are required.
  • Demonstrated Local Government experience in coordinating place-based projects using project management methodology is essential.
  • A sound understanding of and commitment to contemporary community development in a place-based context is required.
  • Experience in piloting new event and activation ideas is necessary.
  • Coaching and mentoring staff experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders to deliver and inform community projects is essential.
  • Understanding of place-based processes and approaches is necessary.
  • A current Class C driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in place-based principles and practices is essential.
  • Experience in planning, developing and implementing community projects is necessary.
  • The ability to deliver strategic outcomes when problem-solving and addressing community issues is required.
  • Fostering and supporting formal and informal community partnerships at a local level is essential.
  • Working across internal and external departments and units to create project groups or partnerships is necessary.
  • Preparing reports, presentations and other media for senior staff, team members and external organisations is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using online tools, web-based programs and social media as a tool to promote community initiatives and manage funding programs is essential.
