Role Overview:

The Strategic Program Manager for American Express Meetings & Events plays a crucial role in managing key client relationships. This position focuses on ensuring operational excellence, client retention, contract renewals, and expanding our service offerings. The ideal candidate will leverage exceptional relationship-building skills to coordinate with internal teams, ensuring profitable business operations while enhancing client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee client retention strategies, manage contracts, and drive revenue growth while ensuring high levels of account performance.
  • Collaborate with event operations, business travel, and corporate card teams to foster synergy and enhance service delivery.
  • Provide insights into industry trends and product offerings to improve client experiences and operational efficiencies.
  • Engage in client meetings, presentations, and performance reviews to standardize processes and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Work closely with operational teams to guarantee successful planning and execution of events, addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders within client and supplier organizations, maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Assess client needs and craft tailored value propositions, presenting these to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Align with leadership on pricing strategies and profitability initiatives, driving account growth through new business opportunities.
  • Manage client data within CRM systems to track engagement and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience in business development related to high-level event management.
  • Strong consultative communication skills, including proficiency in presentation, sales, and negotiation.
  • Understanding of operational processes related to meetings and events.
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships that enhance meeting solutions and drive profitability.
  • Experience in promoting organizational change and efficiencies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think conceptually.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing client expectations.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel as required. CMP and/or SMMC certification is a plus.
