About the Role

The Senior Public Policy Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing education policy initiatives aligned with our strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders on policy trends and implications for our organisation and Catholic education sector.
  • Design and manage advocacy campaigns, including responses to government inquiries and legislative developments relevant to our priorities.
  • Represent us in consultation forums and working groups to contribute to policy development and align our advocacy efforts with internal policy activities.
  • Prepare high-level briefings, reports, speeches, and correspondence for senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organisation to ensure alignment of advocacy efforts.
  • Develop content for public consumption (school circulars, media releases, website, social media).
  • Lead a team of professionals.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in policy development within government relations, public policy, or advocacy, preferably in education or the public sector.
  • Understanding of the political environment affecting Catholic and non-government education in Victoria and Australia.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tailor advice for different audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate the value proposition and mission of Catholic education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to change and competing priorities.
  • Experience with Catholic or faith-based organisations is desirable but not essential.
