Clinical Quality Specialist

Australia's leading medical defence organisation, Avant, is seeking an experienced Clinical Quality Specialist to join its team.
As a Clinical Quality Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored risk management advice and education to doctors who are Avant members.
This unique opportunity allows you to broaden your experience and skills in a corporate insurance environment. If you have previous nursing or GP practice management experience and are looking for a change, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
The estimated salary for this position is AU$90,000 - AU$110,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
About the RoleIn this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for delivering our Risk Advisory Service through practitioner risk assessments, practice risk assessments, educational content, proactive measures to reduce claims, and attending events.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify areas of risk and develop strategies to reduce potential claims exposure. Additionally, you will engage with medical professionals and practices to highlight areas of concern and implement strategies to mitigate potential risks.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and presenting medico-legal risk management content at events
- Representing Avant in a manner consistent with Avant's member engagement values
- Helping build efficiency of risk advisory services process and aligning with Avant priorities
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to identify areas of risk and develop strategies to reduce potential claims exposure
- Proactively engaging with Medical Professionals and Practices to highlight areas of concern and implement strategies to mitigate potential risks
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- Tertiary qualification in a health-related field
- Extensive experience as a Practice Manager, Nurse or Health Management in a tertiary hospital setting
- Previous demonstrated experience working in a clinical, practice or other healthcare environment
- Previous exposure to evaluating and managing clinical quality and safety
- Understanding of risk assurance principles
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Strong relationship management and influencing skills
- Understanding of current health legislation and ability to work proactively with doctors, societies and practices to understand risks
