
Strategic Financial Leader

The Hinchinbrook Shire Council is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Business Partner to join its Financial Services team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the council's financial sustainability and strategic direction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic financial advice and analysis, leading the development of the council's long-term financial plan, annual budget, and quarterly reviews, and driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities- Partner with executive and operational teams to deliver strategic financial advice and analysis.
- Lead the development of the council's long-term financial plan, annual budget, and quarterly reviews.
- Oversee financial performance reporting and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, and council policies.
- Mentor and support Finance Business Partners and other finance staff.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial insights clearly.
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Demonstrated experience with Technology One (highly desirable), or proven ability to provide end-user support and guidance across equivalent financial systems.
- CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.
- Experience in local government or the public sector is an advantage.
- 72.5-hour fortnight with roster variations depending on the position.
- Up to 12.5% Superannuation employer contribution for contributing members.
