About the Role:

Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke Consortium is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to join their team for the Sydney Metro West project. This is a unique opportunity to work on a complex infrastructure project, managing commercial aspects and ensuring project profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project forecasts, monitor expenditures, and implement cost control measures to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Manage contractor disputes and work closely with the finance team to prepare month-end whole of project forecasts and financial reports.
  • Mentor junior Commercial Team members on industry best practices and encourage staff to develop their current skillset.
  • Assist with evaluating variation claims prepared by the commercial team and assist with managing compliance and preparing reports on commercial performance.
  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
  • Lead on monitoring and steering outcomes for high-risk/value claims and disputes, ensuring positive strategies and resolutions.

About You:

  • Degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Business-related degree.
  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in a commercial/contract management role working on major scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of principles of contract management, experience of contract management, and stakeholder engagement with practical experience.
  • Previous major project Joint Venture/consortium experience is desirable.
  • Estimating, quantity survey, procurement, and contracts management.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.

About the Project:

The Sydney Metro West project involves the delivery of 9 kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park, excavation of new station boxes, earthworks, utilities, and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde, and other infrastructure works.
