About the Role:


The Senior Commercial Manager will play a key role in the management and oversight of commercial aspects across the Sydney Metro West project. This position demands a strong understanding of contract law, financial management, and risk assessment within the civil engineering sector.


As part of the Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke Consortium, you will be responsible for maximising project profitability, managing contractual relationships, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and manage project forecasts, monitor expenditures, and implement cost control measures to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Manage contractor disputes and work closely with the finance team to prepare month-end whole-project forecasts and financial reports.
  • Evaluate variation claims prepared by the commercial team prior to issuing assessments for review and approval under the delegation of authority.
  • Manage compliance and prepare reports on commercial performance of the project.
  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
  • Lead on monitoring and steering outcomes for high-risk/value claims and disputes, ensuring positive strategies and resolutions.

About You:


We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of contract management, stakeholder engagement, and commercial principles. You should have a degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Business-related degree.


Minimum 10 years of commercial/contract management experience in major large-scale infrastructure projects is essential. Previous major project Joint Venture experience is desirable.


Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required, as well as the ability to manage competing deadlines and develop positive relationships with key stakeholders.
