Clinical Nurse Specialist Role

As a clinical nurse specialist, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality specialist care to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses.

Grounded in a person-centred approach, this role ensures that care is not only clinically sound but also emotionally supportive, culturally sensitive, and aligned with the values and preferences of patients and their families.

You will draw on advanced clinical expertise and critical thinking to assess complex needs, initiate appropriate interventions, and advocate for best practice in palliative care delivery.

This includes symptom management, psychosocial support, and end-of-life care coordination.

You will work in close partnership with patients, families, carers, and a multidisciplinary team—including physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff—to achieve clearly defined goals and optimal outcomes.

The role contributes to continuous improvement by mentoring staff, promoting evidence-based practice, and supporting education initiatives that enhance the overall quality and safety of the palliative care environment.
