
Aboriginal Care Navigator

This is a pivotal role in supporting Aboriginal patients and their families throughout their cancer care journey.
Key Responsibilities:- Work to support Aboriginal patients and families to navigate cancer services with dignity and respect.
- Provide leadership in care coordination across clinical units, services, and community providers.
- Advocate for improved patient experiences by embedding culturally safe practices.
- Build partnerships with community organisations, Aboriginal healthcare workforce, clinicians, and service leaders.
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams to improve health outcomes.
The successful candidate will have a cultural connection to the Tamworth region and surrounding Aboriginal community, knowledge of Aboriginal health services and the barriers Aboriginal people may face when accessing care. They will also have strong communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills, as well as relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in health, social science, or community service.
