Job Description

The Municipal Building Surveyor plays a pivotal role in efficiently and effectively managing the Building Control Services business unit to ensure a high standard of service and building development compatible with the expectations of the community, relevant legislation, local laws, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing and determining applications for building permits, reports, and consent, POPE applications, and other related matters.
  • Responding to and investigating community complaints and breaches of building legislation.
  • Ensuring the safety of known high-risk buildings and sites across the municipality, collaborating with other teams and agencies to achieve a safe built environment.
  • Managing the pool registration and safety barrier program in Hume City Council.
  • Aligning plans and policies to the council's community vision, legislative requirements, organisational values, and broader strategic objectives.
  • Using data, workforce trends, operational insights, and experiences to drive measurable outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
