We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled veterinary nurse to join our team at the Veterinary Referral Hospital in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have experience in general practice nursing and be looking to branch out into referral or have emergency experience but want something new.

The Emergency and Critical Care department is open 24/7, including public holidays. We are particularly keen on hearing from applicants who have a preference or availability to work Swing or OOH shifts.

As a veterinary nurse in this role, you will have the opportunity to work in various roles, including ICU and hospital nursing, support roles, triage, and patient stabilisation. You may jump straight into experienced ECC nursing or receive additional training and guidance as you learn the ropes.

Our leadership team will ensure you are always comfortable with the work you do and that you feel continually supported. You will work closely with our team of wonderful ECC nurses and vets, including specialists in Emergency & Critical Care, who look out for and encourage one another.

Our case load is varied and interesting, providing opportunities every day to learn and grow your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment. You will also work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including vets, specialists, and experienced nurses in Anaesthesia, Neurology, Imaging, Internal Medicine, and Surgery.

Requirements include a minimum Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent and at least 2 years' experience in the veterinary industry as a nurse. You must demonstrate exceptional organisation and communication skills, ability to work as part of a team and follow instruction, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to adapt to change and handle the unpredictable
  • Demonstrated skills in anaesthetic set-up, monitoring, and surgery techniques
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends
