Job Title: Senior Aquatic Ecosystem Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Aquatic Ecosystem Specialist to join our team in Brisbane.

About the Role:

  • Lead and develop an aquatic ecology team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior members.
  • Plan and execute field-based data collection activities in accordance with state, territory, and commonwealth regulatory requirements.
  • Support project delivery across multiple sectors, ensuring timely completion within scope, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Prepare detailed, science-based technical reports that meet community and regulatory scrutiny standards.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in ecology or an environmental science-related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, manage projects, and contribute to business development activities.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in aquatic fauna sampling methods, including netting, traps, and electrofishing.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages and data analysis as it relates to aquatic ecology data.
  • Strong track record of preparing winning proposals for small to large-scale projects.
  • In-depth understanding of statutory frameworks, policies, and science-based approaches governing water management.
