Job Overview

A tertiary qualification in ecology or a related environmental science discipline, combined with excellent communication and project management skills, will be key attributes of the ideal candidate. Experience in preparing winning proposals, statistical analysis, and data interpretation will also be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of an aquatic ecology team and mentor junior team members to achieve project goals and company objectives.
  • Plan and implement field-based data collection activities in accordance with State, Territory, and Commonwealth regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver projects across multiple sectors, ensuring timely completion, adherence to scope, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports that meet client and stakeholder expectations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in ecology or a related environmental science discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, manage projects, and contribute to business development activities.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in aquatic fauna sampling methods, including netting, traps, and electrofishing.
  • Knowledge and experience in other aquatic ecology sampling methods, such as macroinvertebrate, diatom, and zooplankton sampling.
  • Expertise in statistical packages and data analysis as it relates to aquatic ecology data.
  • Experience in preparing winning proposals for small to large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, policies, and science-based approaches governing water management.
