Job Description:

The Georges River Council seeks a highly motivated individual to lead the delivery of its traffic and transport program. This key role requires strategic leadership to build a proactive service, delivering an efficient, safe and integrated transport environment in the Local Government Area.

This role will involve providing expert advice on traffic and road safety issues, advocating for and seeking funding for active and sustainable transport opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve road safety and traffic management, providing technical expertise to inform policy and decision-making, building relationships with stakeholders, and preparing high-quality concept designs for civil infrastructure road works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve road safety and traffic management;
  • Provide technical expertise to inform policy and decision-making;
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, including Councillors, government departments and community groups;
  • Prepare high-quality concept designs for civil infrastructure road works;
  • Administer the Council Traffic Advisory Committee;
  • Manage resources to achieve team and business objectives;
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Civil & Environmental Engineering;
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence;
  • Construction Induction (White Card);
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in local government traffic and/or related fields;
  • Demonstrated experience in administering the Council Traffic Advisory Committee;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills;
