B & E Foods, a leading wholesale company in the food industry, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory and Costing Officer to join its team.

This role plays a vital part in managing the company's inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in inventory-related processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to coordinate stock movements, conduct regular stock reconciliations, and analyze cost data to optimize pricing and profitability.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using the company's inventory management system, ensuring seamless tracking of stock movements.
  • Coordinate receiving, storage, and dispatch operations, with a focus on proper documentation and efficient logistics.
  • Regularly reconcile inventory discrepancies and variances, taking prompt action to resolve issues and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Analyze product costs, freight costs, and landed costs to determine accurate inventory valuations, supporting informed business decisions.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchase orders to replenish stock as needed, ensuring optimal stockholding and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely cost allocation and cost reporting, facilitating effective financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy, aligning with industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in annual physical inventory counts, verifying inventory accuracy and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Generate reports and provide analysis on inventory levels, costing, and related financial metrics, supporting strategic decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, demonstrating a solid understanding of financial principles.
  • Prior experience in inventory management or costing roles, preferably within a wholesale or distribution environment, showcasing expertise in relevant software and systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in analyzing cost data, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel, with a solid grasp of inventory control best practices.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.

The estimated salary for this position is between $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
