Retail Buyer

Good Luck Supermarket Pty Ltd, one of the largest Asian grocery supermarkets in the Blacktown area, is seeking a skilled and experienced Retail Buyer to join its dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing a wide range of fresh produce items and daily necessities for our supermarket clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement: Monitor sales data and inventory levels, staying informed about related trade, vendors, and overall market trends, price fluctuations, and new product developments to keep Good Luck competitive.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with fresh produce suppliers, ensuring access to high-quality products and exclusive deals. Negotiate with product suppliers in relation to purchase, promotion, and supply.
  • Pricing and Marketing: Formulate and control the price of all related products, carry out the plan and strategy of marketing, promotion, and product display in stages, and follow up on implementation.
  • Communication and Planning: Maintain barrier-free communication with company management, ensuring that long-term purchasing and sales strategies align with overall business goals and management plans.
  • Forecasting and Analysis: Analyze sales data to forecast future demand and plan purchasing accordingly, aligning with company budget and targets. Set the next phase of work plan and work goals according to historical budget needs.
  • Market Research: Monitor industry trends and consumer behavior to identify new product opportunities and expand product ranges. Grasp consumer trends, adjusting the quantity, style, and quality of products depending on customer trends.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality assessments of received goods, including packaging and expiration dates, to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality assurance.
  • Record Management: Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, contracts, and supplier relationships.

Requirements:

  • A Diploma of Business is mandatory.
  • At least 1 year of full-time retail buyer experience in fresh produce buying, sourcing, or related retail goods buying in a supermarket retail environment is mandatory.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin is mandatory.
  • Professional knowledge in supply chain management, procurement, communication, or a related field is mandatory.
  • Working experience in an Asian company (China, Singapore, etc.) is preferred.
  • Sensitivity to market movements, ability to analyze and evaluate market research data, and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Effective management and leadership skills are also required.
