About the Role

SLR is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join their Ecology team in Perth. As an Ecologist for Invertebrate Surveys, you will be responsible for providing high-quality service and advice to clients and colleagues in both office-based and fieldwork activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in field survey programs to collect ecological data focusing on SRE invertebrates.
  • Interpret and apply environmental legislation and technical guidance to projects across various sectors.
  • Develop technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and management.
  • Assist in preparing tenders and proposals.
  • Integrate technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams.
  • Make independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions, and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies.
  • Travel to remote areas to conduct field survey programs.
  • Train junior staff in collection and processing of SRE invertebrate specimens.

Requirements

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • 2-6+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in government or academia, including undertaking SRE invertebrate surveys and report production.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of SRE invertebrate field surveys and monitoring programs.
  • Excellent SRE invertebrate identification skills.
  • Experience in preparing invertebrate specimens for submission to taxonomic experts and the WA Museum.
  • Mature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written material for publication.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven project management experience in relation to client management and budget control.
