We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Ecologist to join our team at SLR Consulting. As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality ecological advice and services to our clients, including conducting field surveys, interpreting environmental legislation, and developing technical reports.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field surveys to collect ecological data, including surveys of short-range endemic invertebrates
- Interpret environmental legislation and technical guidance to inform project decisions
- Develop technical reports detailing the outcomes of field surveys and implications for environmental impact assessment and management
- Assist in preparing tenders and proposals
- Integrate technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams
- Make independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions, and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies
- Travel to remote areas to conduct field surveys
- Train junior staff in collection and processing of SRE invertebrate specimens
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field
- 2-6+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in government or academia, including undertaking SRE invertebrate surveys and report production
- Experience in the design and implementation of SRE invertebrate field surveys and monitoring programs
- Excellent SRE invertebrate identification skills
- Experience in preparing invertebrate specimens for submission to taxonomic experts and the WA Museum
- Mature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written material for publication
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
- Proven project management experience in relation to client management and budget control
- Experience in the interpretation of molecular data for invertebrate species identification
- Experience with subterranean fauna survey and reporting
