About This Role

This role is crucial in providing assistance and resources to students and families facing various challenges. The successful candidate will play a vital part in assessing student needs, developing care plans, connecting students and their families with services, advocating for their rights, and offering emotional and wellbeing support.

The Student Wellbeing Workforce aims to ensure every Queensland primary and secondary state school student has access to a wellbeing professional at school.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional information and support for students, parents, carers, and school communities to enhance partnerships in decision making.
  • Use evidence-based strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, social, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Offer therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns.
  • Facilitate referrals to other professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support.
  • Support school communities in responding to incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team.
  • Develop and/or maintain appropriate data collection and confidential records keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for services in line with department procedures and policies.
  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community, and inter agency/networks relevant to the position.
