Neonatology Research Opportunity

Mater Mothers' Hospital has an exciting opportunity available for a neonatologist embarking on a research career to join the neonatology team in the Mater Neonatal Critical Care Unit. This is a permanent position, part-time at 20 hours per week.

The unit consists of 47 intensive care cots and 32 special care cots. All facets of neonatal/perinatal care are provided, including care of infants with extreme prematurity, unwell term infants, infants requiring neonatal surgery and those with congenital heart disease, as well as multidisciplinary follow-up clinics.

The successful applicant will be expected to conceive, drive, and lead their own research projects, as well as contribute to and facilitate the research activities of others. This would primarily involve clinical research but include engagement with biomedical researchers in the Mater Research Mothers and Babies Program.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Medical Specialist within the field of Paediatrics and Child Health
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in Neonatal/ Perinatal Medicine (or equivalent)
  • Embarked on a Higher Research Degree
