Director Operations Job Description

The Director Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for managing a high-performing team that supports the Commissioner in discharging regulatory and operational obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and effectively manage the operations team, as well as lead and assist with management of operations across the organization.
  • Review, develop, and drive complex legislative and policy changes designed to enhance the organization's undertaking of its statutory obligations and regulatory functions.
  • Develop and manage practice systems and processes required to effectively prepare and deliver strategic and operational plans.
  • Establish and manage performance frameworks, including data management systems, to enable effective analysis and reporting for operational and organizational performance oversight.
  • Monitor and improve policies, procedures, work practices, and management systems to enable the organization to continually improve effective and efficient standards of service.
  • Lead and effectively manage operational management across human resources, infrastructure, workplace health, safety, and wellbeing, risk, and compliance, and information technology.
  • Develop an effective engagement plan to educate and inform key stakeholders, including leading and managing communications plans.
  • Oversee the development and management of operating budgets to achieve optimal operational service delivery in compliance with relevant standards, audit, and governance requirements.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans and continuous improvement programs.
  • Manage the delivery of corporate services and projects required to support operations, including coordinating external providers and consultants.
  • Advise, mentor, and support teams by fostering a good work ethic, interactive work practices, and quality results.
  • Audit annual reports, budget submissions, forward estimates, mid-year reviews, funding, and project information.

This role requires strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and experience in providing senior-level strategic and organizational advice, government policy reform, and performance delivery.

The successful candidate will be a senior people's leader with a track record in delivering in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
