About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager to lead our team at Healthscope. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a registered nurse with a passion for paediatric care to take on a leadership role. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the unit, overseeing the delivery of nursing care, and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have current registration with AHPRA, a minimum of 5 years' experience as a registered nurse in paediatrics, and demonstrated management experience. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management
  • Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence-based
  • Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family-centred care in a team-focused environment
  • Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to your team
  • Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources
  • Undertaking direct patient care, as required
  • Ensuring compliance with ACQSHC National standards

Essential Criteria

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Registered Nurse with at least 5 years' experience (Paediatrics)
  • Demonstrated management experience
  • Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams with a service excellence approach
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relations with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge base in labour management
  • Understand the requirements of private health funding
  • Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills, including advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care
  • High degree of computer literacy, including MS Office and various databases
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment

Desirable Criteria

  • Tertiary postgraduate qualifications in a relevant Nursing specialty
  • A demonstrated understanding of Work, Health, and Safety legislation
  • A demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality improvement, change management, models of care, evidence-based practice, and practice development
