Role Summary

This is a Staff Specialist position that requires a medical professional to provide high-quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Laboratory Haematology.

The ideal candidate will be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Laboratory Haematology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Laboratory Haematology.
  • Contribute to teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional performance and foster an academic environment that supports research and development.
Requirements
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Laboratory Haematology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with strong communication, interpersonal skills and adaptability.
  • Personal qualities including effective communication, motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
  • Contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise in Laboratory Haematology.
Selection Criteria
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
  • Commitment to research and/or medical education and staff training.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience.

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2024_015 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases.
