Payroll Governance and Compliance Specialist

Australia Post is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Governance and Compliance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our payroll operations, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring holistic governance and compliance payroll controls across our organization.
This role requires a strong understanding of payroll legislation, policies, and procedures, as well as experience in implementing payroll governance controls. You will work closely with our Employee Relations team to understand the payroll implications of Award/EBA and legislation changes.
Key Responsibilities- Drive strategic and proactive Time & Attendance and Payroll governance and compliance to support identification and resolution of Payroll risks and issues.
- Oversee the proactive, timely, and comprehensive response to issues, risks, and reviews which arise from internal and external compliance, internal audit, and remediation reviews.
- Proactively understand, influence, and anticipate legislative changes in the Payroll landscape, to support thorough and holistic preparation and management of changes within Payroll and the broader business.
- Manage the relationship with Employee Relations to understand the Payroll implications of Award/EBA and legislation changes.
- Run with the compliance program of works that the Payroll Operations leadership team define each year.
- Manage any identified mismatches in data by collating any identified discrepancies and leveraging the rest of the team to make the required adjustments.
- Own Payroll compliance risk register and continuous improvement backlog.
This role will suit someone with an eye for detail and who is curious enough to ask questions around processes. You will need to have experience in implementing payroll governance controls, knowledge of SAP payroll system or other large-scale payroll systems, and previous experience working in a HR and payroll environment.
You will also need to have knowledge in payroll relevant legislation and policies, as well as advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel (Formulas, Pivot tables, and displaying data).
