Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation)

The University of Queensland is a leading research and teaching institution in Australia, ranked among the world's top 50 universities. As a key member of the Senior Executive Team, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) will play a crucial role in driving the university's research and innovation agenda.

This senior executive role will lead the university's research and innovation-related portfolio, including research policy, ethics, strategic initiatives, infrastructure, grants, collaborations, and researcher development. The successful candidate will possess high-level strategic capabilities, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven track-record of leadership in a large, research-intensive university.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) will be responsible for developing and implementing research and innovation strategies that align with the university's overall mission and goals. They will work closely with the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Deans, and Institute Directors to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across the university.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a deep understanding of the university's research ecosystem and a proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives. They will possess strong personal research credentials, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven track-record of leadership in a large, research-intensive university.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the university's research and innovation-related portfolio, including research policy, ethics, strategic initiatives, infrastructure, grants, collaborations, and researcher development.
  • Develop and implement research and innovation strategies that align with the university's overall mission and goals.
  • Work closely with the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Deans, and Institute Directors to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across the university.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the university's research and innovation capabilities.
  • Promote and support research translation and commercialisation efforts across the university.
