Key Environment Policy Role

This is a significant opportunity to formulate, examine and evaluate regulations and policy to inform recommendations on key cross-cutting policy issues related to international maritime pollution prevention conventions and their implementation in Australia.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and analysing environmental issues, trends and regulatory responses, both in Australia and internationally. This includes researching and preparing briefing on key issues for International Maritime Organization (IMO) meetings.

Responsibilities include contributing to the analysis and formulation of policy related to maritime environment protection issues and the preparation of documentation relating to the introduction of new and amending legislation and marine orders.

This role requires strong communication skills within our organisation and externally, including internationally, to influence and progress policy in our national interest. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and/or administering policy, regulation and/or legislation, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and analyse environmental issues, trends and regulatory responses, both in Australia and internationally.
