We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Governance Officer to provide expert guidance and leadership in data protection and access to information.
This role will ensure compliance with NSW and Commonwealth privacy laws and oversee requests made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act (GIPA).
You will lead initiatives that support data protection, manage complaints and breaches, and liaise with key stakeholders including the Information & Privacy Commission.
Your expertise will guide Data Protection Impact Assessments, drive improvements aligned with our Information Management Plan and embed best practices across the institution.
About You
You bring extensive knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth privacy and access laws, and ideally a background in law, information management or governance.
With strong analytical and communication skills, you excel in interpreting legislation, managing complex issues, and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.
You are confident working with senior leaders, delivering staff training, and responding to legal requests in a high-volume environment.
Your collaborative style and commitment to continuous improvement will support our ongoing compliance and strategic priorities.
- Candidates must have a proven track record in data protection and compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with senior leaders and stakeholders.
