Job Overview:

Environmental Health Coordinator

This role is responsible for conducting scheduled inspections of licensed premises, providing guidance and coaching to direct reports, and delivering an efficient public health service.

  • Carry out routine inspections of food premises, swimming pools, skin penetration facilities, and onsite sewage management systems.
  • Investigate complaints related to environmental health issues and take regulatory action as required by legislation.
  • Provide detailed assessments of development applications in relation to environmental health requirements.
Key Objectives:
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality public health services through efficient inspections and complaint handling.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve compliance with environmental health regulations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to raise awareness of community safety matters and inform them of relevant legislative and policy changes.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification, have considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer or similar position.
  • Extensive technical skills and expertise in interpreting relevant Local Government, Public Health and Environmental Legislation.
  • Excellent customer service, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in supervision, training, mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence - Class C.
