Senior Health and Safety Specialist

This is a pivotal role that requires exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive transformative change in health and safety practices within an open pit mining team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust health and safety systems, processes, and procedures in collaboration with the open pit mining team.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of health and safety management systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements.
  • Evaluate contractor performance against health and safety standards and provide guidance on improvement opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize health and safety outcomes.
  • Nurture strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, OHS authorities, training providers, and suppliers to drive collective success.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned health and safety professional with recent experience in the open pit mining industry, holding a tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or a related field. They will possess at least 5 years of experience working in senior health and safety roles within open pit mining operations, with in-depth knowledge of developing and implementing health and safety systems and processes aligned with regulatory requirements.
