Are you looking for a challenging role in financial services? We have an exciting opportunity for a Natural Hazard & Reinsurance Modelling Specialist to join our team.

This role involves working with complex data sets to deliver high-quality modelling and insights across natural perils and reinsurance. You will be responsible for designing, maintaining and enhancing modelling processes, as well as ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data used in these models.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong analytical and statistical skills, proficiency in technical software such as Excel and SAS, and excellent communication and business writing skills. A background in actuarial science or a related field is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Design, maintain and enhance modelling processes for natural hazard budgeting, reinsurance program optimisation and allocation.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timely preparation of data used in natural hazard and reinsurance modelling.
  • Deliver technical modelling outputs and insights to stakeholders within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve, automate and simplify modelling and analytical workflows.
  • Collaborate with external consultants and reinsurance brokers to validate data and modelling results.
Requirements
  • 5+ years experience in financial services, ideally with exposure to general insurance.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA, SQL and SAS; Python experience desirable.
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills.
  • Ability to manage small to medium projects independently.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering or Mathematics.
