About the Role:

Norfolk Village State School is a large P-6 school located in Ormeau on the Northern Gold Coast.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teamwork and Communication: Function as an effective team member by communicating effectively and displaying high levels of interpersonal skills.
  • Maintenance of Student Records: Maintain anecdotal records on students for use in reviewing student's development.
  • Supporting At-Risk Students: Display respect and empathy for at-risk students with high level needs and trauma backgrounds.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: Display confidentiality, tact, reliability and sensitivity to students and their backgrounds.
  • Assisting Teaching Staff: Assist Complex Case Teacher including duplicating and photocopying teaching materials, compiling student results records, assisting in organising programs of instruction, resource preparation etc.
  • Supervision of Education Activities: Assist in the supervision of education activities, under the direction of Complex Case teacher and/or classroom teacher.
  • Preparation of Resources: Assist in preparing, storing, making available and clearing away teaching equipment and materials.
  • Playground Supervision: Assist teaching staff with playground supervision.
  • Supporting Student Learning: Support student learning.
  • Supporting Student Social-Emotional Well-being: Support student social-emotional well-being.
  • Increasing Student Engagement: Increase student engagement.

About You:

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills
  • Relationship Building: Ability to form positive, professional relationships with staff and students
  • Behaviour Management: Ability and willingness to manage and support challenging behaviours
  • Student Support: Ability and willingness to support at-risk students with trauma backgrounds
  • Transferable Skills: Prior experience is not essential if key capabilities can still be demonstrated. Experience in other fields will be valued eg. Sport coaching, working with children in other industries and/or organisations.
