
Behavioural Support Specialist

The Behaviour Support Practitioner plays a pivotal role in fostering meaningful connections with NDIS participants, working collaboratively to understand their goals, aspirations, and support needs.
They collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams comprising families, educational institutions, medical professionals, allied health providers, accommodation services, and support workers.
Key responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, gathering data through observations and interviews, and developing behaviour support plans.
Behaviour Support Practitioners also provide comprehensive training and coaching to NDIS participants and individuals significant to their lives, promoting informed decision-making and skill development.
This position requires access to a privately owned vehicle and a valid driver's licence, as well as adherence to necessary checks and insurance requirements.
Successful applicants will hold tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in psychology, ABA, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counselling, criminology, disability, education, mental health, music therapy, psychotherapy, special education, social work, or sociology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing behaviour support plans tailored to individual NDIS participant needs
- Providing training and coaching to enhance NDIS participant skills and independence
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Conducting assessments and gathering data to inform behaviour support plan development
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, ABA, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counselling, criminology, disability, education, mental health, music therapy, psychotherapy, special education, social work, or sociology
- Relevant experience in the field of disability support or related fields
