Key Laboratory Support Role

The Key Laboratory Support Role is a critical position within the Senior School Science programs, reporting directly to the Head of Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all laboratory equipment and consumables are properly maintained and prepared for classes.

  • Preparation and setup of practical equipment for VCE Chemistry classes, including cleaning up afterwards.
  • Maintenance of stock levels of chemicals, consumables, and other essential items required for experiments.
  • Collaboration with teaching staff to ensure timely access to necessary equipment and materials.
  • Assistance in maintaining accurate records, such as SDS documentation, as required by relevant authorities.
  • Trialling and designing new experiments to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintenance of a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Liaison with maintenance personnel to address any repair or maintenance needs within the Science department.
  • Annual stocktake and chemical registry activities.
  • Inventory management within the Science department.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • A working knowledge of laboratory procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OHS and safety protocols specific to science laboratory environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, with the capacity to interact positively with staff and students.
