Mental Health Specialist - AOD Clinician Role

At our organization, we are committed to delivering high-quality mental health services to individuals and communities. Our specialist will play a vital role in providing focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of people accessing our service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management, and care planning to individuals with mental health issues.
  • Work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualized psychosocial interventions.
  • Participate actively in the multidisciplinary mental health team, profession-specific network, and with consumers, families, carers, and extended agencies.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant qualification such as General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse, or AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Brief Intervention Models of Care, commitment to professional development, and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment.
  • Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills, demonstrating a working understanding of assessment and care planning.
  • A sound understanding of public, non-government, and private mental health systems and programs in a community setting.
  • Ideal experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and support.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, showing sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness.
  • Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks.
