Your Role

As a Business Analyst - Climate Risk Specialist, you'll be part of a market leading team responsible for delivering peril pricing and reinsurance costs to the IAG business units across Australia and NZ.

You'll use your technical background to deliver analytical insights to the Group, contribute to the development of engines pioneered by the team and build close relationships with diverse professionals.

About You

  • You have a tertiary qualification in actuarial sciences, statistics, applied mathematics, engineering, econometrics or related disciplines.
  • You have a good understanding of data modelling techniques, statistical methods, tools/languages such as R, SAS, SQL, ArcGIS.
  • Hands on data management and analytics experience is preferable, ideally gained from general insurance or financial services sector.
  • You can work autonomously in a solution orientated and delivery focused manner.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary fast-paced team.
  • Existing knowledge of global cat modelling software such as AIR, RMS, imagery analytics/computer vision will be looked upon favourably.

Your Responsibilities

  • You'll develop, implement and maintain analytical tools to provide insights on natural perils risk, pricing, profitability and affordability.
  • You'll build analytical application designs and prototyping to test ideas and drive innovation on perils risk and climate risk solutions.
  • You'll conduct exploratory data analysis, methodological research and experiments to contribute to innovative analytics solutions.
  • You'll maintain natural perils cost allocations and pricing processes, managing internal stakeholders across the business.
  • You'll provide analytical support to the Pricing & Engineering team on perils including earthquake, flood, bushfire, cyclone, storm and hail.
  • You'll assist in the delivery of peril risk models for both reinsurance and risk-based pricing applications.

About This Opportunity

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 to $120,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience. The role is based in Sydney, offering flexibility and support to live life to the fullest.
