Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Specialist to join our team at the State Government of Victoria, Australia. As a Learning Specialist, you will play a key role in improving teaching and learning practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice, including through teaching demonstration lessons and mentoring and coaching teachers.
  • Work with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice and lead the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development, and supervise and train one or more student teachers and mentors and/or coach teachers.
  • Develop and promote school-wide professional learning structures, processes, and protocols through Professional Learning Communities, and model exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
  • Support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth, and provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and the ability to model exemplary teaching practice.
  • Experience in leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community.
  • Ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, including responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
