About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Systems Lead to join our Capital Markets team at Royal Bank of Canada. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in large-scale production systems and financial industry knowledge to drive strategic initiatives and lead a global application support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a 20+ strong global application support team, ensuring maximum uptime through continual 24x7 support.
  • Manage large-scale Structured applications, driving process improvement, release automation, proactive monitoring automation, and compliance across applications.
  • Liaise with internal development teams and external vendors to resolve support issues for Fixed Income Derivative applications.
  • Proactively identify operational risks/control deficiencies in the business, review, and comply with firm policies applicable to business activities.
  • Facilitate rollout of software components in production, ensuring systems meet enterprise quality requirements.
  • Prepare for planned maintenance over weekends, DR exercises, and major rollouts, providing subject matter expertise and guidance to team members.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of IT experience, minimum 2-3 years in the financial industry.
  • Prior in-depth experience in implementing and supporting large-scale production systems.
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income Trading activities (Pricing, Contributions & STP), Market Data Feeds, and applications such as Murex, Bloomberg, and Derivative risk systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience on Linux, Windows, SQL Server, and Application monitoring tools (ITRS Geneos and Job Scheduler (CTRL-M)).
  • Ability to work with Front office Business users, Quants, Risk Managers, Product Control groups, and Senior Management.

Estimated Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
