Maritime Autonomy Research Professional

The College of Science and Engineering at Flinders University is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate in Maritime Autonomy to join their research team. This exciting opportunity will involve working within the ARC Training Centre for Biofilm Research and Innovation to develop a specialized automated liquid sampling system for analyzing ship bilge water.
This project aims to improve efficiency in the maritime and defence industries by enhancing water quality monitoring and health and safety issues related to biofilms. To achieve this, the Research Associate will contribute to the planning and execution of research by offering new ideas, reviewing relevant literature, and developing, constructing, and testing instrumentation systems.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the planning and execution of research by offering new ideas, reviewing relevant literature, and developing, constructing, and testing instrumentation systems.
- Contribute to ethical, high-quality, and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, external grant acquisition, and presentations that align with the College's areas of research strength and focus.
- An Australian Citizen, eligible to gain an Australian Defence Clearance, and meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Capable of providing a National Police Clearance obtained within the last 3 months.
- Potentially attain, and maintain, an Australian Security clearance level NV1 as determined under the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
As the successful candidate, you will possess an Honours or higher degree in Engineering, specialising in Mechatronics, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering. You will have relevant track history in working with mechatronic systems, which will be required to construct the device. You will have excellent attention to detail, along with strong technical and analytical abilities.
Additionally, you will be an excellent communicator with high-level interpersonal skills, allowing you to establish and uphold positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality research outcomes.
