We are seeking a skilled professional to lead our trauma-informed practice, so young people are safe, supported and empowered. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships, and begin to heal from traumatic experiences.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading clinical frameworks and therapeutic care for complex trauma histories in line with our Model of Care. You will support staff to deliver consistent, evidence-informed interventions, provide direct engagement and therapeutic support to a small caseload of complex children and young people, and design care services training and provide clinical supervision to a small number of staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead clinical frameworks and therapeutic care for complex trauma histories in line with our Model of Care.
  • Support staff to deliver consistent, evidence-informed interventions.
  • Provide direct engagement and therapeutic support to a small caseload of complex children and young people.
  • Design care services training and provide clinical supervision to a small number of staff.

Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline and Post Graduate qualifications/training in relevant child, adolescent and family clinical practice, family work and/or systemic approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of trauma informed therapeutic interventions to children, young people, their carers and families.
  • Deep understanding of trauma, attachment, and child development theories, and experience applying them in practice.
  • Experience in the provision of clinical supervision and secondary consultations in child, youth or family settings.
  • Evidence of experience working with children and young people with complex behaviours, and disrupted attachments.
  • Ability to engage staff in reflective practice, training and capacity-building to embed therapeutic care approaches.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture and the impact of past colonial practices on intergenerational trauma for Aboriginal children and families.
  • Commitment to child safety, innovation, and the therapeutic use of self in practice.
