We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Executive to lead the operations of our research centre. As Australia's frontline defence against emerging infectious diseases, our team plays a key role in strategy, governance, and coordination.

The successful candidate will provide high-level advice to our directors on stakeholder and external interactions, formulate and prepare responses to information requests, reports, and strategic communications, and analyze complex issues, developing responses and making decisions under pressure.

Key duties include:

  • Analyzing complex issues, developing responses, and making decisions under pressure
  • Coordinating reporting, planning activities, and leadership meetings
  • Leading or managing sensitive projects aligned with our research priorities
  • Building and maintaining relationships within the organisation and with external stakeholders

Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (preferably biological or animal sciences) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of preparing complex scientific, strategic, and government reports
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills in ambiguous or urgent situations
  • High-level organisational skills to manage competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Proactive approach and effective collaboration across teams and external partners
  • Experience in project management, including planning, engagement, and reporting
