We're seeking an Experienced/Senior Protection Design Engineer to lead our Engineering Design business in Australia. The ideal candidate will have expertise in High Voltage Systems – Protection, controls and SCADA (up to 500kV). You will establish and grow the team, taking ownership of preparing and delivering secondary design for new and brownfield sites.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Leveraging your technical skills to lead a team of secondary system designers and support multi-disciplinary design and project management teams.
  • Conducting load flow, fault levels, and protection coordination studies, relay application and protection settings, protection and control schematics, SCADA system architecture and auxiliary supply systems.
  • Maintaining client relationships to support project delivery and engage as a subject matter specialist.
  • Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project goals, establish budgets and develop project schedules.
  • Participating actively in design reviews, risk assessments and quality control processes to ensure design excellence.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in HV and EHV substation installations, with expertise in secondary systems design, including Protection, SCADA and auxiliary supplies. Strong interpersonal and technical skills are essential, along with the ability to develop and lead design teams and develop strong client relationships.

Commercially-minded individuals who can understand the business needs of both AtkinsRéalis and our clients are highly valued. Tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Power Engineering or an equivalent are required, with NER, CPEng or RPEQ being ideal.
