Key Responsibilities- Contract Management: Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts with a focus on strategic commercial advice and legal implications.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage legal risks associated with contracts and projects, ensuring robust risk mitigation strategies.
- Tendering and Subcontracting: Work closely with the Tendering team to address all risks in Tendering and cover them comprehensively in Subcontract Terms and Conditions/Scope of Work.
- Performance Analysis: Develop and distribute accurate KPIs and perform in-depth analysis on high-risk projects and claims.
- Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
- Dispute Resolution: Lead on monitoring and steering outcomes for high-risk/value claims and disputes, ensuring positive strategies and resolutions.
- Client Relationships: Manage repeat client relationships and contribute to effective client management.
- Senior Leadership: Potentially be a member of the company senior leadership team, contributing to high-level strategic decisions.
- Experience: 10+ years in a heavy civil or building commercial role, preferably on the subcontractor side.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven experience dealing with Tier 1 civil subcontractors.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of legal principles and contracts essential for managing commercial agreements.
- Contract Expertise: Expertise in contract development, negotiation, administration, and strategic commercial advice.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative approach to complex issues.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Leadership Skills: Self-starting and proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
The ideal candidate will be highly driven, confident, and success-oriented, with a passion for achieving the best outcomes for the company. You should be a strong leader with a proactive and assertive approach, capable of taking initiative and leading strategy for claims and disputes.
