About the Role

The Australian Research Council (ARC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the next stage of the organisation's development.

As a strategic and empowering leader, you will drive the continued transformation of the agency in response to government policies, sector expectations, and an evolving research landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion the significant impact of Australian publicly funded research and advocate for the key role and importance of the ARC in the Australian research ecosystem.
  • Drive the transformation of the agency in response to government policies, sector expectations, and an evolving research landscape.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders, including government, academia, and industry.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the ARC's research excellence and impact.
  • Provide expert advice and research grants services to support the Australian research community.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of senior executive leadership experience in a knowledge-intensive setting.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to harness diverse interests.
  • Experience in delivering outcomes at scale and building collaborative partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of navigating the nuances of government, academia, and industry.
  • Significant experience and professional credibility in undertaking or managing research.
  • Outstanding and persuasive communication and presentation skills.
